What's the best pool closing kit for winterizing your pool?

Hey folks, I’m getting ready to close up my pool for the season and want to make sure I’m using a solid pool closing kit that actually works. I’ve seen a few kits online, but it’s hard to tell which ones are worth the money and which ones leave your pool looking like a science experiment come spring.
  • Looking for a kit that includes all the essentials (shock, algaecide, stain preventer, etc.)
  • Prefer something easy to use without needing a chem degree, or good at that stuff for that matter
  • Bonus points if you mention which climate you use yours in. I'm in the Northeast.
If you’ve had a good (or terrible) experience with a specific brand, I’d love to hear it. Any tips or must-dos when closing the pool would also be super appreciated.

I used the AquaDoc Pool Winterizing Kit last season and it worked out really well. Just a heads up, they have a few different versions depending on your pool size and setup.

For a regular chlorine pool, the kit comes with three main types of products:
  • Dry Granular Winterizer
  • Winter Oxy Plus (non-chlorine oxidizer)
  • Winter Sequestering Compound
That combo handled my 24,000-gallon pool with no issues. If your pool’s on the bigger side, like 30,000 gallons, they’ve got a kit for that too. It comes with Winter Enzyme, Stain and Scale treatment, and Winter Oxidizer. No floater or algaecide, but honestly I didn’t need those. Opened the pool this spring and the water was clear with no weird surprises.

If you’ve got a saltwater pool, they make a version just for that too. Different formula, but I think it's still pretty simple to use (if you're not a dummy).

Here’s the one I ordered: AquaDoc Pool Closing & Winterizing Kit

Super easy and way less stressful than messing around with a bunch of different products.

I used aquadoc's closing kit last year on my pool. I live in Michigan so we get some pretty rough winters. Brrrr. Anyway, the closing kit worked well for us. We opened up our pool without the typical mess we've had in the past.
