What's One Poolside Upgrade You Didn't Think You Needed But Now Can't Live Without?

Hey everyone! Curious to hear what little (or big) poolside upgrades totally surprised you. Something you didn’t plan for or maybe added later, but now you’re wondering how you ever lived without it? Could be anything from lighting to gadgets to furniture. Let’s hear it!

Honestly? A cantilever umbrella. I used to think it was just a fancy extra, but once I got one, game over. It gives you shade exactly where you want it without a pole in the way, and it rotates 360 degrees. It made the seating area way more usable during the hottest part of the day. Now I spend twice as much time outside.

For me, it was adding a few outdoor lounge chairs with thick cushions and a small side table. I always thought basic chairs were enough, but once I got the nicer setup, it totally changed how we hang out by the pool.

Now it’s not just about swimming. It’s where I read, nap, have snacks, or just relax in the evening with a drink. That little comfort upgrade made the whole pool area feel like an outdoor living room. Definitely didn’t expect it to make such a difference.

For me, it’s definitely the poolside Bluetooth speaker. I didn’t think I’d use it that much at first, but now it’s a game-changer for pool parties and even just relaxing by the water. It really adds to the whole vibe, whether I’m playing music or just listening to a podcast. It’s surprisingly one of those small upgrades that makes a huge difference!

For me, the upgrade I didn’t expect to love so much was a poolside storage bench. I originally picked it up just to toss some towels in, but now I use it all the time, way more than I thought I would.

It holds everything I used to run back inside for: sunscreen, goggles, test kit, flip-flops, snacks, you name it. I even keep a couple of clean shirts and extra swimwear in there, so no one's dripping through the house. What’s nice is that it keeps clutter out of sight and everything dry, especially useful when we have people over and the pool gets busy.

It also doubles as a seat, which is handy when you’re just hanging out or drying off after a swim. I didn’t realize how useful it would be until we started using the pool more often. Now it’s kind of the central hub for all the poolside stuff and it’s saved me tons of trips back and forth.

It’s one of those things you can easily overlook, but once it’s there, you’ll wonder how you managed without it. If you’re still figuring out your setup, I’d say it’s definitely worth adding.

I never thought I’d need a pool heater, but honestly, it’s been a game-changer for those early morning swims. It’s like turning a cold bath into a warm retreat, especially during chilly evenings!
