Using Solar Pool Covers in Summer

Does anyone use solar covers during summer? Do they help heat the pool or just keep debris out?
I've used solar covers a couple of summers now. Besides keeping leaves and bugs out, I've noticed the water stays a bit warmer, especially on sunny days. Plus, it seems to cut down on evaporation which helps save water.

I’ve always thought solar covers were just for keeping the pool clean, but it’s cool to hear they actually help warm the water too. Makes me wonder if using one could cut down on heating costs. Has anyone tracked that?

Solar covers are great for retaining heat, reducing evaporation, and keeping debris out.
They're a simple, effective way to maintain pool temperature and save water over time.

Exactly! Solar covers not only keep debris out but also trap heat, which can reduce heating costs significantly. Many users notice warmer water and lower energy bills during sunny months by using them consistently.

Yeah, I use a solar cover every summer. They actually do both—help keep debris out and add a nice bit of warmth by trapping the sun’s heat. It’s not like a heater, but it definitely raises the water temp a few degrees, which is great if you want to swim earlier in the season or keep things warm overnight. Plus, it cuts down on evaporation, so you’re not constantly topping off the water.

A simple but smart upgrade.👌

I use a solar cover every summer, and it definitely helps with both. It keeps a lot of debris out, which makes cleaning easier, but the main reason I use it is to help warm the water during the day. It traps the sun’s heat, so the pool stays warmer into the evening without running the heater as much. It’s a simple way to save on energy and keep the water comfy.

Absolutely, using a solar cover is a smart move!

I’ve used a solar cover during the summer, and it definitely helps with both heating and keeping debris out. The cover absorbs sunlight during the day and transfers some of that heat into the pool, which can raise the water temperature a few degrees. It also reduces evaporation, so you don’t have to top off the water as often. On top of that, it keeps debris like leaves and dirt out, which saves time on cleaning. It's not a huge temperature boost, but it definitely makes a difference if you’re trying to keep the pool warmer without using a heater all the time.
