Thinking About Getting an above ground Pool?

Hey all! 👋 I’ve been thinking about getting an above ground pool for the backyard this summer. Just wondering, are they worth it in the long run? How’s the maintenance compared to in ground pools? Would love to hear your experience before I dive in! 😊

Above ground pools can be worth it, especially for smaller backyards and lower budgets! 😊 They’re generally easier and cheaper to maintain than in-ground pools, but you’ll still need to keep up with regular cleaning, chemical balancing, and seasonal setup/takedown. If you’re looking for something low maintenance and budget-friendly, it’s a solid choice!

I’ve been thinking about getting an above ground pool kit too and started searching stuff like “are above ground pools worth it long term” and “above ground vs inground pool maintenance.” Honestly, there’s a ton of info out there but not a lot from real people using them. I’m also curious how long liners typically last and if certain kits are better quality than others. Following this thread closely cause I'd sure love to hear what brands or setups people recommend.

Some say “complete kit” but then the pump, filter, or liner ends up being separate. I’d love to hear from anyone who bought a full DIY pool kit. What brand did you go with, where did you order from, and was it actually beginner-friendly to set up?

Also wondering how long these swimming pool kits usually last, and if it’s better to go with a resin frame, steel wall, or hybrid. Following this thread for sure — any tips on choosing the best above ground pool kit or avoiding mistakes would be a huge help.

Sorry, I know I probably asked a lot there on top of this person's question lol.

We’ve had an above ground pool for a few years now, and honestly, it’s been totally worth it for us. Way more affordable than an in-ground pool, and the maintenance is a bit easier too. You still have to stay on top of things like cleaning, balancing the chemicals, and covering it when not in use, but overall it’s manageable. It’s been great for the kids and super refreshing in the summer. Just make sure you invest in a good pump and filter setup, makes a big difference.

Yeah, we’ve had one for a few summers now. Definitely worth it for the price. Maintenance isn’t bad same deal with chemicals and cleaning like an in-ground, but stuff’s easier to replace if something breaks.

Only thing is, liners don’t last forever. Ours started to wear out after a couple seasons. Still, for the cost and how much we use it? No regrets at all.

Above-ground pools are definitely worth it, especially for the budget-conscious! They’re cheaper to install and easier to maintain than in-ground pools. With regular cleaning and water maintenance, they can last for years. Plus, they’re flexible—you can take them down if needed. A great option for enjoying summer without the high costs! 😊
