One thing I didn’t expect when I got my pool was how much I’d appreciate having a pool cover! It’s saved me so much cleaning time, especially during those windy days. Anyone else found something surprisingly helpful in their pool setup?

Honestly, I didn’t realize how much water evaporates in the summer. I kept thinking I had a leak at first. Turns out, it’s just the heat and wind. Now I check my water level every few days and try to top it off in the early morning. Learned that one the hard way.

Biggest surprise for me was how much easier spa maintenance is once you get into a routine. I used to be all over the place with testing and chemicals. Now I’ve got it down to a couple times a week, and it runs way smoother. Also don’t skip the cover. Makes a huge difference keeping heat and debris out.

One of the best tips I got was to take photos of all your pool equipment and settings at the start of the season. Came in super handy when I had to troubleshoot a pump issue and couldn’t remember how everything was set up. Also great if you need to ask for help or order parts later.

Owning a pool has definitely been a learning experience! One of the biggest surprises for me was how much maintenance goes into keeping the water balanced. I didn’t realize how often I’d have to test the water and adjust the chemicals, but once I got into a routine, it became second nature.

As for tips, I’d say investing in a good pool cover has been a game changer. It helps keep the debris out, and the water stays cleaner for longer, which means less cleaning time. Another tip is getting a good quality leaf blower it’s way quicker than using a broom when clearing off the patio and pool area.

Honestly, the most surprising thing for me was realizing how important the pool cover really is. It’s not just for keeping debris out, but also helps with maintaining water temperature and reducing evaporation. Who knew it could do so much?

For me, the biggest surprise was how much easier everything gets once you actually understand your equipment. In the beginning, every weird noise or change in water clarity felt like a crisis. After a few seasons, you start recognising what’s normal and what’s not, and it takes a lot of the stress out of it.

One tip I’d share is to keep a small logbook or even a note on your phone. I jot down things like when I last cleaned the filter, what chemicals I added, and any changes I made to pump timings. Sounds simple, but it’s saved me more than once when I couldn’t remember why the water behaved a certain way.

And honestly, the thing I enjoy most now is those quiet early-morning checks with a coffee in hand. Turns into a little routine you look forward to.
