Opening and closing your pool properly helps keep it clean, safe, and long-lasting.

✅ For opening in spring:

Remove the cover and clean the debris

Reconnect the equipment and inspect for damage

Balance water (pH, chlorine, alkalinity)

Shock the pool and run the pump

❄️ For closing before winter:

Clean the pool thoroughly

Lower the water level and add winterizing chemicals

Blow out pipes and plug returns

Cover securely to keep out leaves and debris

Hey Mark! Great tips. One thing I’ve learned is that covering your pool properly during the off-season is key. I’ve used a simple tarp with some extra weights, and it’s been super effective at keeping leaves and debris out. Also, before opening the pool in spring, I make sure to check if the pool pump is fully functioning, because sometimes it gets clogged during winter
