Frogs Entering the Pool: Funny or Gross?

My house is near a rice field, and I often see frogs entering my pool. While it can be funny at times, I find it quite disgusting. Is this something others find amusing, or do most people think it's unpleasant?

I can totally relate! I live near a pond, and sometimes the frogs think my pool is a perfect little retreat. It’s a bit of a surprise every time I spot one, but I’ve learned to laugh it off.

Frogs in the pool can be quite a surprise! It’s one of those things that some might find amusing, especially if they’re used to seeing wildlife up close. Others, however, might find it a bit off-putting, especially when it comes to keeping the pool clean. It seems like a love-or-hate situation! Some people might think it's cute, while others might prefer to keep the pool frog-free for hygiene reasons.
It sounds like you’ve got a bit of a rural charm going on, though – frogs are just part of nature! If it gets to be too much, though, you might want to consider adding a cover or setting up barriers to keep them ou

That sounds like a unique situation! I can see how it would be funny at first, but after a while, it might get a bit annoying, especially if you're constantly having to fish frogs out of the pool. I think a lot of people might find it a little gross, but some might also find it kind of charming in a quirky way, especially if they're nature lovers. It probably depends on how often it happens and how much of a hassle it becomes for you to clean up after them. Have you found any tricks to keep them out, or is it just part of life near the rice fields?

Oh man, I feel this. My property backs onto a small patch of farmland, and frogs seem to think my pool is some kind of amphibian resort. I’ll walk out in the morning and see one just floating there like he’s living his best life and meanwhile I’m trying to skim him out without gagging.

At first, it was kind of funny. My kids even named a few of them. But when you’ve got to scoop out a bloated frog first thing in the morning with your coffee still in hand? Not as charming. They always manage to find a way in, even with the cover on. It’s like they’re waiting for a chance to dive bomb the deep end.

I’ve tried putting in one of those little escape ramps that’s supposed to help frogs and critters climb back out, but honestly, half the time they don’t seem interested. I’m guessing the warm water pulls them in, and then they realize too late that it’s a trap. Definitely not something I expected to deal with when we put the pool in, but here we are.

Haha, sounds like we’re in the same boat, Samuel! I guess the frogs think they’ve found a secret hideaway. I’ll try to laugh it off too next time!

Thanks for the advice, Harry! I think adding some barriers might be a good idea to keep the frogs out. I’ll consider that next time.

Thanks for the input, Richard! I agree, it does depend on how often it happens. I haven’t tried any tricks yet, but I’ll think about how to keep them out more effectively.

Haha, that sounds like quite the experience, Amber! I’ll definitely have to be more patient with the frogs. It’s good to know I’m not alone in this!

Our backyard pool is near a small creek, and frogs seem to think it’s some kind of luxury spa. One morning I opened the cover and spotted three of them just chilling, like they’d booked a weekend getaway.

At first, it was funny, my kids even tried giving them names, but after a few mornings of skimming out soggy little guests, it gets a bit gross. I’ve tried putting in a little ramp, but the frogs aren’t impressed; apparently, lounging is more fun than escaping.

I’ve started leaving a long-handled net nearby now, partly to fish them out, partly to laugh at how determined they are to treat my pool as their personal resort. Nature sure knows how to make pool time interesting! 🐸💦
