Anyone actually get a full 5+ years out of their salt cell?

Anyone actually get a full 5+ years out of their salt cell? I’m at year 4 on a Hayward T-Cell-15 and wondering if I should expect it to start dropping off soon.

Mine made it to around 5.5 years before it started acting up. Output dropped and it wasn’t keeping up even though everything else looked good. Replaced it last season.

I got just under 5 years. Water chemistry was solid the whole time, but once the cell goes, it goes fast. You’re probably close, so I’d start keeping an eye on chlorine levels.

I’ve had a Hayward T-Cell-15 as well, and I’ve heard from a lot of people that around the 4 to 5-year mark is when you might start noticing a drop in performance. It really depends on how well the system has been maintained, but in general, if it’s been running well for four years, it’s probably time to start keeping an eye on it. Some people get a full 5 years out of theirs, but it's not uncommon for the cell to start losing efficiency after that point. Regular cleaning and checking the salt levels can help extend its life a bit longer, but just be prepared for a possible replacement soon.

Many people get 5+ years out of their Hayward T-Cell-15 with proper maintenance, but the lifespan can vary depending on water chemistry and usage. Regular cleaning and balancing your pool’s chemistry can help extend its life. If you notice reduced chlorine production, it might be time to start thinking about a replacement.

I’ve managed to get a little over 5 years out of my Hayward T-Cell-15, but that’s with pretty consistent maintenance. I clean the cell every few months and make sure the salt and calcium levels stay balanced so buildup doesn’t shorten its life. Once it hit year five, I started noticing a small drop in chlorine output, especially during the hotter months, but nothing major yet.

I also use AquaDoc’s clarifier to help keep the water crystal clear, it seems to reduce strain on the system overall. If yours is still performing well at year four, you’re definitely doing something right.

I switched to a saltwater pool last year, and it’s been great. The water feels softer, doesn’t irritate skin or eyes, and there’s no strong chlorine smell. Maintenance is easy, just check salt levels and clean the cell occasionally. I also use AquaDoc’s clarifier to keep the water crystal clear. The upfront cost is higher, but it’s worth it for the comfort and low upkeep.
