Any hilarious pool fails you’ve witnessed?

What’s the funniest thing you’ve seen happen around a pool? I have a few good stories of my own!
 
Once, my friend tried to do a cannonball and ended up belly-flopping instead. We couldn’t stop laughing for hours!
 
I think my bigget pool fail is trying to figure out these DIY pool kits. I want to install my own pool but so far, despite a lot of research, it'd been a pool failure.
 
I love this thread. Pool fails are honestly one of my favorite things to read up on within the interwebs, mostly because I’ve had a few disasters myself. One time we were trying to install an above ground pool kit in the backyard and didn’t realize the ground had a slight slope. Looked totally fine when it was dry, but once we filled it halfway, the water shifted and the entire liner buckled on one side. Total collapse. Water everywhere. We had lawn chairs floating across the yard like it was a flash flood. It was one of those epic pool fails that feels like it belongs in a YouTube compilation.

Since then I always triple check the base before setting up anything. I’d love to hear more pool horror stories if anyone has them, especially the ones involving DIY mistakes or kids doing cannonballs into inflatable pools that were never built to handle it.
 
One of the funniest things I’ve seen was a dog jumping in mid-cannonball while someone else was about to dive. It was chaos but hilarious! Pools always seem to attract those unexpected LOL moments.

Oh, I’ve got one that still makes me laugh every time I think about it. A few summers ago, my friend decided he was going to show off his perfect dive at a backyard pool party. He lined up on the diving board, gave this dramatic Olympic‑style arm swing, and launched himself with total confidence. only to catch one foot on the board mid‑takeoff. The poor guy basically cart‑wheeled sideways, landed flat on a giant inflatable flamingo, and the two of them slid together into the water like a slow‑motion slapstick scene.

He popped up completely unhurt but still sitting on the flamingo, looking absolutely stunned, while everyone else lost it laughing. We still refer to any fancy dive attempts as pulling a Flamingo to this day.😂

Oh, I’ve definitely witnessed some hilarious moments around pools! One time, I saw a friend try to do this super graceful dive off the side, only to completely miss and belly-flop into the water. The splash was so huge, I swear it sent ripples across the whole pool! Everyone just stared for a second, then burst out laughing. He came up, trying to act like it was part of the plan, but we all knew better!

What about you? I’m sure you’ve got some good ones let’s hear them!
