Thinking about adding a pool, but don’t want the full construction project? Above ground pools are a great budget friendly and space-saving option. They’re quick to install, easy to maintain, and perfect for smaller yards or seasonal use. 💧

From basic frames to upgraded models with decks and heaters, there’s a lot you can do to make them your little backyard retreat. Does anyone here have tips, upgrades, or setups they love?

Have you thought about adding some creative lighting around the pool or even some cozy lounge chairs nearby? It really adds to the vibe of the backyard, especially at night. Plus, for a smaller setup, little details like that can make a big difference in transforming the space into something special!

Above ground pools are definitely a great option for a budget friendly and low maintenance pool! 🌞 For tips, adding a deck can enhance the look and functionality, while a pool cover helps keep debris out and reduces cleaning time. If you're using it seasonally, consider getting a pool heater for extended use. Also, a good filtration system is key to keeping the water clean and clear.

I’ve had an above-ground pool for a few years now and love how customizable it is without breaking the bank. Here are a few upgrades that made a big difference for me:

  • Added a wraparound deck - makes it feel more permanent and easier to get in and out.
  • Solar cover + reel - keeps the water warm and clean without much effort.
  • LED lights - super easy to install and great for evening swims.
  • Hard plumbing the filter - cleaner setup and better flow than the standard hoses.

It’s definitely worth personalizing it a bit, it can go from “temporary” to a real backyard feature with a few tweaks

I’ve got to say, putting up an above-ground pool last summer was one of the best things we’ve done in a while. We weren’t ready to commit to something permanent, but still wanted a way to cool off without driving somewhere every weekend. It turned out better than expected.

The setup took a bit of patience (leveling the ground was probably the trickiest part), but once it was up, it was totally worth it. The kids lived in it, and I even found myself floating around in the evenings after work. It’s not fancy, but it does the job and honestly, that’s all we needed.

If you’re on the fence about getting one, I’d say go for it. You don’t need a huge budget, and with a little care, it’ll last you several seasons.

Above ground pools are definitely a great choice if you want a more affordable and hassle-free option! For a backyard retreat feel, you can add a deck around the pool, which makes it look more integrated into your yard and provides space for lounging. Solar heaters or solar covers can keep the water warm and extend your swimming season. For aesthetics, try landscaping around the pool with plants or flowers to soften the edges, and add lighting to create a relaxing atmosphere at night. Any extra touches like a privacy fence or comfortable outdoor furniture will help create a cozy, resort-like vibe. Would love to hear if anyone has other tips!

I put in an above ground pool a couple of summers ago and honestly the thing that surprised me most was how much the little add-ons matter. The big stuff is obvious, but the day to day comfort comes from the smaller tweaks.

One thing I ended up doing was setting up a simple ground mat path from the house to the pool. It sounds minor, but it cuts down a ton on dirt getting tracked in. I also picked up a small storage box right next to the ladder for towels and test kits so I’m not running back and forth.

For water care, mine stays pretty clear most of the time, but whenever it starts looking a bit dull after a busy weekend, I toss in a bit of the Aquadoc clarifier. It tightens everything up fast and saves me from having to fiddle with the filter all day.

If you’re planning your setup, try living with it for a week or two before adding anything big. You notice the annoying parts once you actually start using it, and those are usually the easiest to fix.
