Hi, looking for some advice on keeping my pool water clean.

Ive bought an above ground pool, which is 10 ft round and 30inch deep. It holds around 4300l of water, already the pump that comes with it is a filter pump and does not feel very strong. Should I look at replacing this first?

I'm from the UK, in the north east of England, and its not a heated pool, i know it will only be able to be used a couple of months of the year but my daughter was desperate for one and it was a good price at £79.99.

I'm just trying to find where to start on maintaing the water and keeping it as clean as possible with out emptying and refilling every week or 2.

Any advice would be appreciated, complete beginner to any kind of pools.

Thank you!

Hey Shell, totally get where you’re coming from, I started with almost the same setup! The small pumps that come with those pools usually don’t do much, so upgrading to a slightly stronger filter pump helps a lot. It keeps the water moving and stops algae from settling.

Also, grab a small starter kit with chlorine tablets, test strips, and maybe a floater. A little chlorine goes a long way in keeping the water safe. I toss in Aquadoc’s clarifier once a week too, it clears up the water fast and makes the filter’s job easier.

Try to scoop out leaves or bugs daily and cover the pool when not in use. If you stay on top of it, you can easily keep it clean for weeks without refilling. It’s all about a simple routine, nothing fancy.

We’ve got the same size pool, and yeah, the stock pump’s pretty weak. I upgraded mine and it made a big difference. I use Aquadoc’s clarifier once a week too, it keeps the water crystal clear and helps the filter work better. Just check chlorine levels regularly, scoop debris daily, and cover it when not in use. Once you get into a routine, it’s surprisingly easy to keep clean all season.
